New to Cooking Quinoa? Five Ways to Try It!
Cooking quinoa is something that not everyone has done. If you are new to cooking quinoa, you may be looking for some suggestions as to how you might enjoy this nutritious super food. Here are five ways that I like to prepare quinoa.
1. A great way to enjoy quinoa is in a delicious quinoa soup. You can either search for quinoa recipes or simply use quinoa in place of pasta or rice in your favorite soup recipe. As an added bonus, quinoa is loaded with vegetarian protein so you are improving the nutritional content of your meal.
2. Quinoa salad is a great way to cook quinoa. In fact, many of my favorite quinoa recipes are quinoa salad recipes. There are many exotic recipes, like preserved limed quinoa salad, but there are also many basic recipes like southwestern quinoa salad. This means that no matter what your tastes are, you can find a quinoa salad that you love.
3. If you are new to cooking with quinoa a great way to start is at breakfast. If you like warm breakfast cereals, you are sure to enjoy cereal in the morning made with quinoa. My favorite way to do this is to combine quinoa with oatmeal. The contrast in texture makes the dish interesting! Top it off with some fresh berries and you have a delicious start to your day.
4. I love to make stir fry recipes using quinoa. There are many great recipes out there, but your really don’t need one. Simply make your favorite stir fry and toss in some cooked quinoa towards the end. Yum!
5. If you eat meat, a great way to make your meatballs and meat loaf recipes healthier is by using quinoa. Simply substitute quinoa for the bread crumbs or crackers that you usually use to hold the meat together. You will not notice the change and your dish will be much better for you and your family than it was before.
