Using a Pet Hotel

Many people use boarding kennels or catteries when they go away on holiday or have to leave their pet for any length of time. However, as pets are increasingly considered one of the family people are willing to go to greater length and expense to ensure their comfort and happiness while they are away. This demand has led to the concept of Pet Hotels.

In a lot of ways these hotels are very similar to a traditional boarding kennels. Each animal will be allocated its own dog kennel with attached run and you will be able to choose whether to bring your pet’s own bedding to help it feel at home or use the bedding that is supplied. Though they tend to be generously large dog houses they are still of the metal cage variety.

The difference is in the extra facilities which your pet can use. Often there will be a hydrotherapy pool where you can book sessions for your dog to help with rheumatism, wasting muscles, bone problems, etc. They will also have a pet grooming salon where your animal can have anything from a simple wash and comb down to a full clip. If your dog could do with a bit of training then they will have a training school where he can learn new skills or brush up on old ones. Often there will be the opportunity to play with other dogs at the hotel in a group playtime or, if this is not suitable for your dog for any reason, then they can have individual play time with one of the staff.

Often these hotels will also have little added extras that you can buy for your pet to enjoy in his dog run. Things such as a daily special treat to eat or a toy filled with something tasty that will also exercise his brain as he tries to get it out.
