The Super Nintendo and its Accessories
Super Nintendo Accessories
In our fast paced world of ever-evolving technology, gaming systems keep getting more and more complex. However, there is an unrivaled joy to be had while playing the classic SNES (Super Nintendo Entertainment System.) Besides being a great gaming system, there are many Super Nintendo accessories to enhance compatibility with several Super Nintendo games.
One of the more popular accessories is the SNES light gun. With it, you can play games like Duck Hunt. There is also the Power Glove, which is the first interfaced controller that would reenact hand movements through the SNES in real time. Both Super Glove Ball and Bad Street Brawler use the Power Glove. (You can play Bad Street Brawler without the Power Glove, but there are special moves that can only be used with the Power Glove.) Another SNES extra is the Arkanoid Controller. It is a controller for the game Arkanoid. The controller helps tremendously with the radius. Of course, the Game Genie cannot be overlooked. The Game Genie is a way to get through slow or difficult areas in games. It uses a system of cheat codes (thus making some gamers opposed to its technology) that modifies various aspects of the particular game. It offers a “detour” through the game’s data.
Some of the best SNES games do not even need any extra accessories. Games such as Super Mario World and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past requires no extra controllers or accessories and is still a very big hit. Other great games include Double Dragon, Super Mario Cart, Mortal Combat II, and Super Metroid. These games hold their tried and true value and stand the test of time.
Some of the more interesting and rare accessories for the SNES include the Satallaview, which was a modem add on for the SNES. This accessories would allow users to access unique content and games along with access to special competitive tournaments, making the SNES the first console system to go online. This was unfortunately only released in Japan.
